If you are a home owner or business owner installing solar panels, SRECTrade is here to help you with your SRECs. This page describes the options you have with our services and how to go about navigating through our website.
The SREC Education
Our website has a plethora of information on SRECs, whether it is geared towards programs that exist in your state or in other states in which you may be eligible. We provide this information free to our community in order to improve the understanding of this market and ensure that it reaches efficiency. Here are a few sections of our site you can check out to learn more information:
SREC Program - Describing SRECs, why they exist, how they are created and how to get started. This page also includes links to every state in which we currently operate.
State Pages - These landing pages describe the parameters of each state's SREC program. Every state's program is unique and these pages are key to understanding what influences each state's SREC market.
SREC Blog - News and other helpful information that we publish as we continue to learn more about these markets. The blog is organized by categories, which can be found on the right side of the page. You can also use the icons in the upper right to subscribe to the blog in various ways.

The SREC Auctions
SRECTrade initially launched in New Jersey in 2008 with the first public, transparent auction open to everyone. Since then, the monthly auctions have been a cornerstone of pricing trends in the states in which they have been held. The SREC auctions are by and far the best way to sell the SRECs that you currently own. As a customer, you have two options when considering our auction:
Self-Serve - You are responsible for ensuring that your facility has been certified by the state, registered with the SREC tracking registry and is transferable to SRECTrade upon close of the auction. Once you are ready to go, simply create an account on SRECTrade.com and place your SRECs for sale in the auction. Upon a successful sale, we'll send you instructions to transfer the SRECs, collect payments from buyers and send you a payment via check or direct deposit. There are no fees to sellers in our auctions. Buyers pay a 3% transaction fee to SRECTrade.
EasyREC - A less arduous solution would be to enroll in our EasyREC service, an innovative and different approach to aggregating SRECs. We provide a straightforward, hands-free solution for anyone who would prefer not to hassle with the process of registering and managing SRECs. We will submit your facility for state certification in all states in which you are eligible, we will register you with the SREC tracking registry and we will automatically manage the creation, sale and transfer of your SRECs in the monthly auctions. The fees for EasyREC customers are 3%-5% of the sale price of the SRECs depending on the state.
The SREC Forwards Exchange
In 2010 SRECTrade launched a live forward contract exchange. The online exchange for forward contracts, both prepaid and payment-on-delivery, provides additional options for SREC sellers on SRECTrade, as well as the first public price for long-term SREC contracts. As the exchange, SRECTrade guarantees every transaction, requiring that all parties post collateral to the exchange to ensure the integrity of the contracts.
Prepaid Forwards - Customers with facilities under 10 kW in many states are eligible for estimated generation. Since the future SRECs created by the system are a known quantity, facilities using estimated generation are eligible to sell some or all of the SRECs to be produced by the system for an upfront payment. All sellers are required to be enrolled in EasyREC so that ownership of the SRECs can be tracked on the SRECTrade platform. In addition, sellers will be able to log into their SRECTrade account and see all of their upcoming SRECs, calculate how much they are worth today and decide if they want to sell any or all of the SRECs scheduled to be produced by their system.
Forward Contracts - A more traditional, payment-on-delivery forward contract can be sold and traded on the SREC Forwards Exchange. There is no limit to the size of a facility, however, buyers and sellers must post collateral. Buyers will need to cover the margin requirements as the market value of the forward contracts fluctuate. If the requirements are not met, the exchange will liquidate the positions in the current market and a new buyer will then own the contract. The initial buyer's posted collateral is then used to cover the price fluctuation, ensuring the seller gets the contracted price. Collateral for sellers will be in the form of SRECs. A percentage of SREC production will be held by the exchange to ensure that the forward contract is fullfilled. As the contract is fulfilled, the remaining SRECs will be released and can be quickly sold in auction at market prices.
The SRECTrade Network
In addition to the SREC services that we provide to solar owners, SRECTrade interacts regularly with all the stakeholders in the solar industry. In addition to relationships with power marketing firms and other load-serving entities, SRECTrade has developed a vast network of partners that include distributors, integrators, installers and other organizations providing services to the solar industry.
